Perfect timing is unfolding. A few years have passed but I just see it as a confirmation of my future oriented mind. In the meantime the holistic and sustainable hair movement has grown all over. People, especially the younger generations are becoming more and more interested in how every aspect of life, also hair can go green! Mona Leung’s travels around the world to interview people for her upcoming documentary Beyond Vanity and her excitement for Global Hair Day leads to a possible connection of Global Hair Day’s big launch day and her conference on Conscious Hairdressing in Vancouver in 2020!
After setting up this site and making some initial steps and conversations, my energy did not flow directly into Global Hair Day as 15 minutes daily the way I envisioned it but more into other ground laying projects around hair and straightening up my email lists, which I will transfer to an outside mailing service. That is a lot of work but then I can tell a hundreds of people about Global Hair Day at once. I have one friend who is very excited about Global Hair Day and we will make an action plan soon.
First I was interested in Astronomy and then from 13 years old I have studied Astrology. The cycles of the moon and the planets are always present in my life. A New Moon stands for new beginnings.
September 12, 2015 is a New Moon in the sign of Virgo. Virgo is an Earth sign and represents health, humanity, being of service, practicality and attentiveness to details, everything Global Hair Day is about and will need. Virgo is ruled by Mercury, which means Virgo really wants to understand things. Mercury’s influence indicates logical thinking with an ability to plan and communicate clearly. It would have also made sense to launch Global Hair Day on the first New Moon of the Zodiac, which is in Aries and would be April 18th, 2015. It felt too close. I think a year to prepare feels more relaxed. Additionally, I did some internet research in regards to other events and birthdays, which happen on that day and it seemed that there was still room for Global Hair Day. Lastly, my vision of being outdoors cutting hair in parks and gardens has a chance at that time of the year, at least in many parts of the world, sorry New Zealand, it might be too cold for you. Today I was thinking about how much time I can spend on Global Hair Day. I have much more idealism than cash and I must be realistic about making promises. In honor of the upcoming first Global Hair Day in 2015 I decided that 15 minutes a day, which adds up to a little less then two hours a week of concentrated dedication feels like a comfortable, and as to expected probably at times, challenging commitment. I will allow myself to chunk the 15 minutes slots together if I skip a day and also to give more, when I am engaged and having fun. I will do a weekly checkup on my commitment and see how it works.
Seven years have passed from receiving the vision to this moment of posting Global Hair Day.com live. I am smiling and I am moved to tears. After some first attempts and setbacks, I have been holding this project all this time in the files on my computer. I am asking Life and Love to bless this movement as its purpose is to affirm life and connect with love through affirming, celebrating and loving first one important part of ourselves, our hair, then ourselves and others and then life and all there is. |
